Egypt’s Ministry of Health will issue Egyptian companies the authorization to produce Viagra. Pfizer Egypt had expected to be the sole producer of the anti-impotence drug, reported Al Akhbar .
The North African state’s Viagra market recently plunged as pharmacies sold their goods for half price, while buyers are showing a tendency to hold out for locally produced Viagra, which will be sold for three to five Egyptian pounds per pill.
Egypt legalized Viagra in 1999, but under strict conditions. It can only be purchased after obtaining a doctor's prescription. Men have to undergo a complete medical check-up and those suffering heart problems are not allowed to consume the drug. As a result, black-market dealers can obtain prices of up to $40 a pill. — (menareport.com)
