ADM Carries out Infrastructure, Internal Road Works in Shakhbut City, Costing AED 276 Million

The Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport (DMAT) - Abu Dhabi City Municipality and Abu Dhabi Public Services Company (Musanada) are carrying out internal road and infrastructure projects in Shakhbut city. The works, with a cost tag of AED 276,998,000, are slated for completion in the first quarter of 2019.

Abu Dhabi City Municipality and Musanada stressed that such vital projects marked their firm belief in the importance of providing world-class, safe and efficient infrastructure in line with the developments taking place in the emirate on all fronts. The projects also reflect their keenness to address the needs and aspirations of the population and improve the quality of life in the city.

The Municipality is moving ahead with efforts to upgrade the infrastructure as per the emirate’s Comprehensive Development Plan, besides leveraging services to keep pace with the urban, demographic and economic developments.

Abu Dhabi Public Services Company (Musanada) stated that the implementation of the strategic transport projects, which contribute to realising the objectives of Abu Dhabi Plan, was one of its priorities. It reported that these projects played a vital role in enhancing the quality of infrastructure and supporting the economic development of Abu Dhabi emirate in particular and in the UAE in general.

The two sides noted that the ongoing project works included extending communications & sanitation networks, as well as water & electricity lines to 423 land plots. These included 354 residential land plots to ease daily life for residents, 8 land plots to support economic activity in Shakhbut City, 2 public facility land plots, 6 governmental land plots to meet the needs of the concerned bodies & provide the infrastructure necessary for the services & delighting population. They also include 2 educational land plots to respond to the educational aspirations of the people in the area, 2 land plots to fulfil the basic needs in the area, 17 general land plots, 20 entertainment land plots, 5 unspecified land plots, 2 religious land plots to be utilised as worship places.

The Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport - Abu Dhabi City Municipality (and Musanada) indicated that, apart from telecommunications, drainage, water and electricity network, they provide high-quality street lighting aligned with the international specifications, costing AED 4,613,000. Through providing these services, the municipal bodies aim to meet the public safety requirements of road users in Shakhbout city, and enhance the traffic safety.
