Amanda Banham, Director of Marketing & PR at Mafraq Hospital, talked about the excitement surrounding the magazine launch: "Tabibi gives patients and visitors to Mafraq Hospital up-to-date news and announcements about the hospital and articles on how they can lead healthier lives, andthe articles are written by our doctors who are leaders in their fields. By having a custom magazine tailored to the hospital's requirements, we can offer our patients informative content which is really relevant to their needs."
The first issue of Tabibi focuses on the problem of obesity, which has the potential to become an epidemic in the UAE. Articles talk about how to shop and eat healthier, and how to ensure children's well-being. Tabibi also covers important news and information about Mafraq Hospital, such as its convenient and flexible Day Surgery Unit for outpatient surgery.
Mars Mlodzinski, company partner at Leading Brands Publishing, spoke of the advantages of having custom content in the world of medical publishing: "Medical issues can change dramatically from region to region and affect different sections of society in different ways. By having a custom magazine, hospitals can tailor the content so that it is really appealing to the types of patients that they are seeing. Mafraq Hospital approached us wanting to make a magazine that will truly explore the relevant issues facing its patients. This meant researching and creating a magazine that reflected the health concerns faced by different demographics across the UAE."
Tabibi magazine has a print run of 20,000 copies and is available for free in both English and Arabic throughout Mafraq Hospital.
