The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism in Bahrain Inaugurates ‘Forum Des Pionniers’

The 19th edition of ‘Forum Des Pionniers’ was hosted by the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) and attended by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, H.E. Mr. Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Chief Executive Officer of BTEA, H.E. Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa and the Ambassador of France to the Kingdom of Bahrain, H.E. Mrs. Cécile Longé.

The Kingdom of Bahrain was selected by ESCAET to host this prestigious event held between the 12th and 16th of May 2018 at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre. Hosting the forum comes in line with the BTEA’s strategy which aims to promote the Kingdom of Bahrain as an ideal destination for hosting meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE).

During the course of the event, 127 tourism professionals including travel agents, airline and hotel representatives will participate in various workshops. Meetings will also be held to discuss issues specifically related to the field of travel in France, particularly around the theme of "Management of Intelligences".  In addition, the forum opens up new opportunities for regional and global businesses to enhance experience sharing, seek investment opportunities and boost cooperation.

“’Forum Des Pionniers’ is a great opportunity to promote the Kingdom’s tourism potential by establishing business relationships with French travel agents, tour operators and tourism organizations with an aim to increase the number of international visitors coming into Bahrain,” said the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, H.E. Mr. Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani.

Further commenting on the event, the CEO of BTEA, H.E. Shaikh Khaled bin Humood al Khalifa said: “Hosting the 19th edition of the forum comes in line with the BTEA’s long term strategy to further develop the Kingdom’s tourism sector and strengthen its position on a regional and international level under the slogan of ‘Ours.Yours.’, which contributes towards the Kingdom’s economy and the 2030 Economic Vision.”

The forum is the ideal platform to meet tourism business partners and exchange expertise and skills as well as learn about the influence of technology and sector evolution in order to prepare and build the future of the tourism industry.

Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BETA)

Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority was established in 2015 under the Royal Decree number (76) for the year 2015 issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain. Whereas the first clause of the Decree number (10) stated that an authority should be established under the supervision of the Council of Ministers

In 2015, BTEA started its operations under the Decree number (9) for the year 2015 to append the Tourism Affairs to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce based on the recommendation of HRH Prime Minister and under the law number (62) of the year 2016 to establish and regulate the Bahrain Exhibition and Convention Authority (BECA) and the Decree number (1) for the year 1985 to establish a Supreme Council for Tourism, and the law number (15) for the year 1986 to regulate the Tourism sector amended by a Law by Decree number (12) for the year 1994.
