Mouawad’s Snow White Princess Diamond Watch was presented with the ‘The Most Revered Watch’ Award by Tourism Malaysia in the recent closing ceremony of A Journey Through Time VI (AJTT VI).

Pegged as South-East Asia’s grandest showcase of the latest watches and jewelry, A Journey Through Time – A Masterpiece of Creation, concluded with the highly revered Watch of the Year Awards. The ceremony typified the underlining theme of the ten day event by unveiling the latest and most innovative timepieces from world class watch brands. Supported by the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia, the annual occasion took place from the 22nd November to 1st December, 2012.

Specially flown in for the AJTT VI event, Mouawad’s latest on-of-a-kind creation, the Snow White Princess Diamond Watch is valued at $6.8 million USD.  This lady’s timepiece made its global debut at the Doha Jewellery and Watch Exhibition (DJWE), the region’s leading event for the luxury jewelry market earlier this year.

The diamond-studded wristwatch born of the Swiss watchmaking excellence of Mouawad’s snowy Alpine factory was crafted from 18K white gold and meticulously layered with 233 colourless diamonds of varying sizes (1 Stone a 8.51 carats F VVS2 Kite, another a 6.92 carats F VS1 Kite, 28 Marquise diamonds at 46.97 carats, and 12 emerald cut stones at 23.40 carats).  Another unique feature of the watch’s setting is how the Mouawad name was engraved in each and every diamond. With a total of 106.93 carats, the Snow White Princess is another extraordinary example of the exquisite attention to detail and absolute artistry that the Mouawad name exudes.

On behalf of the Minister of Tourism, Secretary General of the Ministry of Tourism, Dato’ Sri Ong Hong Peng presented The ‘Most Revered Watch’ Award to Antoine Bakhache, Managing Director of Mouawad Malaysia. In his opening remarks he said, “For 10 days, Asia’s largest and most decadent luxury watch and jewelry showcase has captivated not only Malaysia but has also grabbed the attention of the world’.  He went on to add “We have made the world’s finest watches and jewelry available in Malaysia at excellent prices due to creating a duty-free environment”.

The Watch of the Year Awards judging panel comprised leading horological experts Tan Sri Francis Yeoh, Dr. Bernard Cheong, Mr. Joseph Yeoh, Dr. Frank Muller, Mr. Thierry Gasquez, Mr. Su Jia Xian and Mr. Denis Asch. The esteemed judges selected the winners from a choice of nominated timepieces in seven different categories.

Not only were fine timepieces and exquisite jewelry on display but there were other events such as fashion parades and interactive workshops throughout with leading Swiss watchmakers. Every night throughout A Journey Through Time VI, international artists took to the stage to perform in the shape of The Leading Men from Australia, four international stars of musical theatre, Shila Amzah, the winner of the 2012 Chinese reality singing talent television show, ‘The Asian Wave’ and the Korean international superstar, Sojung Lee.

During the event, AJTT VI showcased the newest limited editions from brands such as Bedat & Co, Jaeger LeCoutre, Maurice Lacroix, Cecil Purnell, Boucheron and Hublot

This year, luxury watch enthusiasts from around the world also had the opportunity to be exposed to the details of how each watch was crafted as well as what makes each separate timepiece unique to others – a compact version of what is featured at the world famous exhibition in Basel.
