National Bank of Oman Lends a Helping Hand With Annual ‘Shahr IL Atta’ Campaign

National Bank of Oman (NBO) has commenced its annual ‘Shahr il Atta’ campaign to spread the spirit of giving and help those less fortunate during the holy month of Ramadan and Eid. The first phase of the campaign kicked off with employees organizing a bake sale of home-cooked goods to raise funds for charitable causes. The money raised was donated to the Oman Association for the Disabled in Muscat as well as Al Uthaiba Basic School to buy new books.

In its second phase, volunteers from the Bank packed and distributed food hampers to low-income families across the Sultanate. A total of 1,200 baskets were personally hand-delivered drawing a smile on people’s faces.

Sayyid Wasfi Jamshid Al Said, Acting Chief Executive Officer at NBO said, “The Shahr il Atta campaign is a true reflection of our commitment towards giving back to the community, particularly during the month of Ramadan. Through such initiatives, we aim to create a positive impact by encouraging the sustainability of resources and demonstrate how we can all make a difference through the power of collective action. At NBO, we are always keen to lead by example and we are very pleased to see an increasing number of volunteers from the Bank’s workforce take charge and give their time so generously.”

An active member of the society, NBO’s corporate social responsibility activities have contributed to the welfare of the nation. In 2018, the Bank invested almost OMR 324,000 for various community outreach programs and projects.
