Oman Government and UNICEF to Join Hands for Children’s Safety, Security and Wellbeing Campaign

The government of Oman, supported by UNICEF, is gearing up for the launch of a new nationwide campaign to promote wellbeing among children. The campaign, which aims to raise awareness through broadcast, print and social media, is led by a Task Force comprised of officials from the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Social Development and the National Centre for Statistics and Information, as well as UNICEF, and is part of a broader initiative to encourage positive parenting practices in the country.
Young people are key to the future of our nation and it’s vital that they are supported from very early on in life, specifically by safeguarding their rights, ensuring quality social well-being services, and providing those with disabilities adequate social protection. On these terms, the campaign has been developed in response to an Oman-based study on key behaviours regarding early childhood education, inclusion, and adult supervision. It will focus on reinforcing the learning and social benefits of early childhood education and raise awareness of the services available to allow more children to enjoy fulfilling lives and their rights in society.
A ratified member of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child since 1996, the Sultanate of Oman is amongst the top-ranking Arab countries in child protection and one of the leading countries that commit to providing children with education, health care and adequate protection.
The Ministry of Social Development hotline is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to help eliminate violence against children. Please dial 1555 to report an incident, or 1100 for the Child Protection Hotline.
