Sohar International Honoured by Ministry of Social Development

In recognition of its outstanding efforts in supporting communities catering for the disabled, the Ministry of Social Development recently honoured Sohar International during their celebration of the International Day for People with Disabilities held in Muscat under the patronage of His Excellency Dr Abdulmunim bin Mansour al Hasani, Minister of Information. Representing Sohar International at the event, Mr Khalil bin Salim Al Hedaifi, Chief Retail Banking Officer received a token of appreciation from the Ministry.

Commending the outstanding role of the civic society in Oman and their valuable contribution in supporting the various communities of the disabled, their families and their caretakers, Mr Khalil Salim Al Hedaifi, said “We are proud of our partnerships and support to the various associations that focus on the wellbeing of the disabled communities across the Sultanate. We believe that every member of our society is capable of contributing to the nation’s progress in their own ways, and our role as organizations is to make sure opportunities are available for them to do so. Sohar International aspires to be an inspiration and a role model in making a positive socioeconomic change. We are humbled to be recognised for serving our duty towards our society, this honour will serve to reinforce our commitment and ever-growing CSR initiatives.”

The International Day for People with Disabilities is marked on 3rd December to spread global awareness on the importance of inclusiveness of the disabled people in all community and economic activities. The event further promotes engagement from all to recognize people with disabilities and help them realize their full potential.

The Event organized by the ministry was attended by officials from the public and private sectors, representatives from civic association, people with disabilities and other relevant parties. The event saw a performance in commemoration of the international day followed by the GoH presenting tokens of appreciations to different organizations supporting people with disabilities.

Since its inception in 2007, Sohar International - under its CSR program ‘Sohar AlAtaa’ - has extended support to over 30 organisations across the Sultanate striving to ensure that its contributions are carefully planned and evaluated in order to diversify and reach the maximum number of people - especially those in most need of it - offering recipients positive support and making meaningful positive change.
