Students In Qatar Join Inaugural Edition Of QF’s Doha Debates’ Ambassador Program
Solutions-focused initiative empowers young people to solve global issues

Thirteen university students in Qatar are among 36 young people from around the world who have been selected to participate in Doha Debates’ inaugural Ambassador Program.

The solutions-focused initiative will empower a new generation of changemakers with the knowledge, tools, and relationships to bring positive change to their communities. Doha Debates is a production of Qatar Foundation (QF).

More than 800 young people from countries around the world applied to be part of the program. The first cohort includes students from Qatar University and QF partner universities Georgetown University in Qatar, Northwestern University in Qatar, Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar, and Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar.  

Additional applicants come from the US, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, Turkey, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, China, Malaysia, Brazil, Rwanda, Nigeria, and South Africa. 

During the three-month program, the ambassadors will engage with global experts and community leaders to explore and wrestle with topics related to pressing global challenges. 

Amjad Atallah, the managing director of Doha Debates, said “We look forward to hosting such an impressive and diverse inaugural class of Doha Debates ambassadors. They will emerge from the program with new skills and knowledge to better position them to be leaders and change-making trailblazers.
