Tunisair's Revenues up 29 Percent in 2017

National carrier Tunisair’s passenger traffic grew by 17.1% in 2017 compared to 2016, allowing the airline to improve its revenues by 29%, to more than 1,280 million dinars (MD) against 995.1 (MD) last year, with a market share (at Tunisian airports) of 41.8% against 39.8%, according to indicators published Saturday by the company.
The passenger traffic (all activities combined) increased from 2,991.841 to 3,502.475 passengers. Regular and additional traffic edged up by 11.6%, to 3,197.641 in 2017 and the charter and pilgrimage activity rose by 141% in 2017.
The daily use of the fleet reached 8h16 in 2017, compared to 7h03 in 2016 that is up by 13% compared to 2016. The filling ratio, which reached 74.4%, gained 3 points in comparison with that of 2016.
Despite these performances, Tunisair recorded a regression by 44% in the punctuality of its flights against 55% in 2016.
According to the company remedial actions have been taken to improve these indicators by attaching importance to the quality of its services in order to provide a satisfactory service to its passengers.

On the 21st of October 1948 Tunisair was established as Tunisia's flag carrier by issuance of the first Decree approving the statutes of "Tunisair" (formerly known as Tunis Air until 1990) , with a capital of 60 million French Francs to be shared between the Tunisian government and Air France.
The company was first headquartered at 1, rue d'Athènes,Tunis.. Until December 7, 1948, date of the first constitutional Assembly at Dar el Bey, the newspapers at that time did not mention the birth of "Tunis Air". Mr Pomey was then appointed General Director.
