Cisco Webex has a deep history of helping employees innovate and remain productive wherever they are. Since the COVID-19 pandemic took hold and closed schools and workplaces around the world and pushed all aspects of people’s lives into the digital realm - enabling remote working, distance learning, and virtual socializing - Webex continued to enrich the development of businesses, employees and the wider public alike.

The platform has been integral to organizations in making great strides, by enabling governments to lead remotely. Webex has also been essential in supporting day-to-day matters that allow the facilitation of meetings doctors have with their patients safely, along enabling classes that educators have with their students, amongst many other examples.

Moreover, Cisco Webex has also been supporting organizations in providing their employees with an inclusive and seamless digital experience that enables the smart workplace required to empowering the connectivity needs of the workforce now more than ever before.

Hence, as a key collaboration platform for many organizations in the region, Webex has brought to the table new features and capabilities to enable a truly global, hybrid workforce.

Here are five things you need to know about Cisco Webex’s new features:

  1. Real-time translation for more inclusive meeting experiences

With the new real time translation feature, users can now engage more fully in meetings, translating from English to 100+ other languages, enabling teams to communicate more effectively with each other, and opening new opportunities for businesses to build a more inclusive, global workforce. Cisco Webex focused on this to eliminate language barriers to enable an even easier online conferencing experience.

  1. Flexible recording throughout different devices

Users can now start, stop, pause, and restart recordings as needed during their calls, providing flexibility and greater control. If the call is being recorded, the recording continues, even if they decide to move the call to another device, merge the call with another active call, or make it a conference call.

  1. Call media optimization for Webex Calling (ICE)

With this new option, users can now keep media on-premises and improve call performance for calls between the Webex app users for Webex Calling. This helps business decrease bandwidth usage, reduce latency, and improve quality performance. Webex Calling architecture and Webex app supports Integrated Configuration Environments (ICE) to automatically improve call performance.

  1. Q&A support for Webex Meetings

This new feature helps users conduct a training session or briefing where they might need to moderate a Q&A, without losing the chat window. Webex meetings now allows participants to type their questions into the Q&A panel so they can be answered by the host or cohosts with ease.

  1. Enter a 9-digit code to connect to a device

In situations where proximity is not available, users can now pair to a device using a 9-character code. For instance, if they are on a guest network, they can simply get the 9-digit code from the device and enter it into the Webex app device panel. Once paired to the device, users can use the device for audio/video, wireless screen share, and device control.

The resilience of organizations depends on how efficient and flexible they are in adapting to new disruptions, while bringing new characteristics to the table. With that in mind, Cisco Webex ensures constant updating of features in a way that eases the collaboration solutions for employees, enabling the smart workplace, essential to all organizations today.
