ALBAWABA - Google was welcomed to the stage at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris, where the Korean giant unveiled new devices such as the Galaxy Z Flip & Fold 6, Galaxy Watch Ultra, and Galaxy Ring. The announcement included information on the expansion of Google and Samsung's partnership, including the confirmation of an XR platform that will launch "this year," without much further detail.
Jenny Blackburn, VP of Gemini user experience at Google, went on the stage to speak of the new Gemini integration into Samsung Galaxy devices, which will provide users access to typical Generative AI tools for text and image generation, as well as easy access throughout the system to the Gemini AI assistant, now able to understand context of YouTube videos and answer questions regarding them.
Earlier in January, Samsung and Google announced “Circle to Search” coming with the Galaxy S24 series phones, now the AI powered function can translate text from anywhere, even the camera, as well as solve math and scan barcodes. The feature will also be coming to the newly unveiled Galaxy Z Fold and Flip 6.
With its new Galaxy Watch lineup, which includes the Watch Ultra and Watch7, Samsung will be introducing the new Wear OS 5 to the smartwatch market, enabling advanced health monitoring features like heart rate tracking and sleep tracking, as well as a personalized health experience and access to a large selection of Google Play apps, according to Google.
One last feature is the ability to watch YouTube in multiview on the Galaxy Z Fold 6, with the ability to watch up to four streams, like news, sports, and other events, simultaneously. However, such combinations are “pre-selected” at launch.
“We’re constantly working with Samsung to bring the latest Google updates to Galaxy products, from smartphones and wearables to even future technologies, like the upcoming XR platform,” Google said in a statement.
