Saudis spend $14.4 billion on foreign travel annually

Every year, Saudis take 4.8 million trips abroad, stay 106 million nights and spend $14.4 billion on foreign travel, making the Kingdom a market worth investing in, according to the Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts company, which operates nine Middle East and African properties with five under development in Egypt, Turkey and Lebanon 

 

The hospitality company has appointed Jordanian Hasan Haitham Barakat as district sales manager for Saudi Arabia. Barakat, 27, joins from Marriott, where he was Regional Sales Manager in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. His Middle East hospitality industry experience includes a sales manager position with Abu Dhabi's Inter-Continental hotel. For three years prior to that he held various positions at the Radisson SAS Hotel, Amman. 

 

"This move strengthens our sales presence in the Kingdom's lucrative outbound market, following last year's appointment of Al-Tayyar Group as our General Sales Agent (GSA)," said Mike Pilkington, Radisson’s Middle East and Africa regional director for sales and marketing. 

 

Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts operates Middle East and Africa hotels in Amman, Aqaba, Bahrain, Baku, Cape Town, Istanbul, Kuwait, Muscat and Sharm Al-Sheikh and has hotels under development in Al-Quseir, Beirut, Hurghada, Istanbul, and Taba. 

 

Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts, currently includes 110 hotels in operation and 37 hotels under development in 37 countries and is the sole franchiser in Europe, the Middle East and Northern Africa for Radisson Hotels & Resorts.
