Turkey’s exports to the European Union reached $6.9 billion from January to May, a 2.7 percent rise compared to figures from last year. Exports to Italy decreased by 10 percent while exports to France and the Netherlands increased by 2.2 percent and 3.7 percent respectively, reported Milliyet .
Turkey’s foreign trade deficit dropped 62.3 percent, from $1.8 billion to $691 million as of January 2002, reported the State Institute for Statistics (DIE).
