The Middle East operations of VERITAS Software Corporation announced Wednesday that it would be hosting its first-ever ‘VERITAS Partner Update Summit’ in Bahrain on May 6 for its top-tier channel partners from the GCC, North Africa and the Levant.

During the seminar, attendees will learn more about the company’s direction for 2004, see the latest data management and protection solutions in action and meet members of the new VERITAS Middle East management team.

The VERITAS Partner Update Summit will include presentations by senior management about the company’s latest technology and discussions on regional storage trends. VERITAS channel partners are set to learn first hand how to improve their profit margins and increase their share in the Middle East’s burgeoning storage software sector.

“The analyst community has made it clear that software is the fastest-growing element of the storage industry,” said Katie Spurgeon, channel manager at VERITAS Middle East. “This channel summit gives VERITAS’ regional channel a better understanding of our comprehensive solution portfolio, how their customers in the Middle East can leverage those solutions and industry sectors in which new sales opportunities may be emerging here.”

At the event, VERITAS will deliver presentations on its full line-up of products including the company’s data protection range, which is the benchmark for data backup and recovery. The benefits to businesses include protection of critical data, simplified management of data backup and recovery, and consistent, reliable data protection.

Utility computing will also be a major focus for the VERITAS summit in Bahrain. Independent research recently conducted and released by VERITAS, indicated that up to 79 percent of businesses surveyed in the Middle East are deploying the internal service level agreements that form the basis of deploying IT as a utility.
