Klaus Schwab, the founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, today opened the annual meeting of movers and shakers with a plea for collaboration.

The high-profile forum, at which US President Donald Trump is set to speak on Friday, sets out its mission as “improving the state of the world.”

This, said Schwab, cannot be done by one group alone.

“The big issues in our world cannot be solved by governments alone, by business alone, or by civil society alone. We need collaborative efforts,” he said.

Trump is among the 70 heads of state or government attending the meeting, which will welcome the biggest ever involvement by politicians at Davos.
