His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan deputized for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth of the United Kingdom at the Sandhust "Sovereign's parade" over the weekend.
The King of Jordan was filmed inspecting the officers, as well perhaps as one officer in particular; his son, Prince Hussein, the Crown Prince of Jordan.
In remarks to the Senior Division and the Intermediate and Junior Divisions his majesty observed: “it is not the first time I have had the privilege to attend the Sovereign’s Parade. Many years ago, I was a cadet standing where you are now,” the King said. His Majesty later added:
"“Some of your most important friendships, forged in the mud and rain of Brecon, will be those with cadets from different countries, different cultures, and religions. Indeed, the enduring bonds that began here can help all of you lead the global understanding that a secure and peaceful future requires."
It seems that while the relationship between the West and the Middle East remains fractured, the relationship between the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Jordan remains historic: the Jordanian King himself graduated from Sandhurst, in 1981.
Crown Prince Hussein born in 1994, enrolled in Sandhusrt after graduating from Georgetown University in Washington DC, where he majored in international history.
Remarks to the class of 2017.
Her Majesty, Queen Rania of Jordan.
