The Internal Security Forces raided the home of a smuggler in Zahle and seized over 300 identity documents confiscated from Syrian nationals, a statement from the security agency said Saturday.

The ISF also arrested Syrian national Q.Z., born in 1994 at his home during the raid.

Q.Z. allegedly admitted to smuggling Syrian nationals into Lebanon and detaining them until a ransom was paid for their release.

The smuggling ring also confiscated identity documents from people smuggled and demanded money to return them.

The suspect was referred to the judiciary and investigations are ongoing to arrest others involved.
