Tunisian director Magdi Smiri is putting the finishing touches on his new film “Tuesday 12,” which is being shot in Abu Dhabi.
The film is expected to be the breakout hit of a new Arab producer, Siham Alkhzuz, who tries to shed light on the current status of Emirati and Arab youth.
In a new conference, Alkhzuz said she has been planning to enter the film production field for a long time, but has been looking for an important, distinct topic to explore, which she came up with in the film “Tuesday 12.”
The film tells the story of three fourteen-year-old girls — Amal, an athlete, Salma, a pianist and Noor, a dancer — who, despite social and religious differences, all struggle with family dynamics and other challenges in pursuit of their dreams.
Alkhzuz said she is eager to express her vision of the life of modern youth in her cinematic debut, which stars a group of Arab artists including Egyptian actresses Nelly Karim and Nour Ehab, Syrian actor Bassem Yakhour and Lebanese actors Omar Mikati, Badi Abu Chakra, Steveni Atallah, Joya Jabbour, Pierre Simaan and Carole Abboud.
The young producer praised the facilities Abu Dhabi provided to production companies, which makes the city an international film site.
