The Egyptian cinema is gearing up for a new film about adolescent girls entitled Qasr Al Sabr (Patience Palace) to be directed by Salah Sirri, according to the Arabic daily Al Sharq Al Awsat.
“My film provides new daring solutions for the girls’ problems at adolescence. I am pleased with the decision of censors who gave the script the green light contrary to the anticipated hot battle with them,” the director told the daily.
Sirri added that he “would begin shooting the whole film after the Eid holiday in Alexandria.” He confirmed that he had ventured by nominating a number of new actors unknown by the audience to star in the film including Hala Shiha who might be the most prominent among them and her sister Maya. The latter costarred in the film Asrar Al Banat (Girls Secrets) along with Fathi, Noha Mustafa, Hebah Amr and others whose performance in the film marked their debut on the silver screen.
Earlier, the Egyptian cinema produced films about the adolescent girls’ issues. The latest of these were Asrar Al Banat (Girls Secrets) under the direction of Magdi Ahmed Ali and costarring Maya Shihah and Sherif Ramzi along with Dalal Abdel Aziz and Sawsan Bader and Muzakkarat Murahikah (Adolescent Girl Memoirs) directed by Enas Al Degheidi and costarring Ahmed Ezz along with the Tunisian actress Hind Sabri in her first Egyptian film debut.
However, Muzakkarat Murahikah aroused controversy when screened at the last Cairo Film Festival -- Albawaba.com
