Egyptian actor Abdel Menem Madbouli has begun shooting the new TV feature Sami Afendi A’ayez Yitgawwez (Sami Effendi Wants to Get Married), about a man who wants to get hitched, but cheaply.
The feature, which is based on Moliere’s play The Miser, was scripted by Ezzat Al Hariri, according to the daily Al Gomhuria.
Madbouli plays the role of a man characterized by stinginess. He pinches pounds when it comes to his house, his children, other people, and even himself.
Despite his creaky old age, he mulls getting married. But at the same time, he is not willing to spend any money.
Meanwhile, Madbouli is also shooting the new series Toyour Al Shams (Sun Birds) scripted by Fathi Embabi and costarring Hasan Hosni, Hisham Salim and a number of young actors.
The series tackles the problems faced by an important group of young men in society.
These serious-minded young people try to prove themselves and their capabilities. They make a huge effort to make changes in their society by helping an old man (Madbouli) who looks after them, treats them as his children and tries to find jobs for them.
Madbouli is also gearing up for a new stage performance for the Art House for Theater, in which he will costar with Fuad Al Muhandes and Shwikar. The play is entitled Ehna Al Talatah Sukkar Nabatah - Albawaba.com
