While MBC is busy producing a film about Palestinian Arab Idol Mohammed Assaf's life, Egyptian comedian actor Ahmed Helmy apologised for not being able to take part in the biopic.
Producers were hoping Helmy would play the role of the Arab Idol hopeful who gave up his audition place for Assaf.
However, Helmy, who's just finished filming Arabs Got Talent, is on a very tight schedule, that's preventing him from taking on any extra work.
The true-story-film is currently being shot in Jordan by international Palestinian director Hany Abu-Assad, who directed Oscar-nominated films “Omar,” 2013, and “Paradise Now,” 2005. The film reveals how Assaf went from being a struggling wedding singer to an international pop star.
While a release date is yet to be confirmed, the highly-anticipated production is expected to break box office records, much like anything else Assaf's name is attached to.
