While the world is still in shock over ISIS's most recent heinous crime against Egyptian Copts in Libya, Arab celebrities condemned the bloody act by taking to social media, where they condoled the deceaceds' families and expressed their solidarity with Christians in Egypt.
The terrorist group released a video Sunday claiming to have beheaded 21 Egyptian Christians, who were captured in Sirte, Reuters reported.
Egyptian actor Khaled Selim offered his deepest condolences on Facebook, saying, "My sincere condolences to Egypt and Copts in Egypt.. it is with deep sadness that we mourn the assassination of the children of Egypt at the hands of treachery and contempt. We ask God for their forgiveness and mercy, and for fortitude and patience for their families and the Egyptian people."
Meanwhile, Syrian actor Jamal Suliman strongly condemned ISIS with a powerful response, saying, "The arms of terrorism stretch out and commit more and more crimes, the most recent one was against young Egyptian men, who were working hard in Egypt to feed their families. You can just imagine what it's like to migrate to another country for work, a place where war ignites in every city and village it possesses.
"This is a risk that someone has taken to feed their family, then a terrorist group comes along and ends their life. What kind of cruelty is this and what kind of divine love would such a criminal expect? God, who has given us life and who has given that family a man to aid it in an honorable way would not be happy with what has happened. This is a crime that will infuriate God and his people so they could banish this barbaric phenomenon. God has created life for love," Suliman said.
The actor concluded, "My condolences to us all, to the Egyptian people and to the victims' families, who will live with this pain for a very long time which this heinous crime has left them with."
Earlier, Egyptian superstar Sherine Abdel Wahab posted a Facebook picture of a white cross and crescent on a black background, with the caption, "Oh, God, the most merciful, be merciful to those who have died and give their families patience and fortitude... Make this easier on them dear God... My deepest condolences to my Christian sisters... Long live Egypt despite some people's maliciousness and hate."
Egypt responded to ISIS by striking their targets in Libya, according to the Guardian. Egyptian warplanes targeted weapons caches and training camps before returning safely.
A statement made by the spokesman for the Armed Forces General Command said the strikes were “to avenge the bloodshed and to seek retribution from the killers.”
