We did not see that one coming, but Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred has been cleared of rape charges in the US.
A Brooklyn woman had accused the young singer of "beating and sexually assaulting" her in 2010. However, Al Arabiya reported on Wednesday that the alleged victim has now dropped all charges against him.
The alleged victim's lawyer, Refaat Harb, told Al Arabiya, "My client's case against Saad Lamjarred has been settled and she does not wish to continue with the lawsuit against him."
Harb added that the final ruling in this case will be made by the District Attorney's Office in New York.
Meanwhile, Saad remains in the Fleury-Mérogis prison in Paris, France on rape charges of a 20-year-old French woman.
It's still not clear when the singer will go to court, but his three lawyers, Eric Dupont Moretti, Brahim Rachidi, and Jean Marc Fedida have moved his case from the Court of Appeal to the higher Court of Cassation.
