We were so proud of Lebanese actress Maguy Bou Ghosn this week, who played human rights activist by standing up for foreign maids working in Lebanon.
Kind-hearted Maguy was disturbed and infuriated by the vulgar way some hair salons and other institutions were treating maids in Lebanon, after refusing to allow them into their properties.
Maguy considered the institutions' attitude "racist and shameful."
In a disapproving Facebook post, Maguy said, "We hand over our kids, homes and food to our maids, that's our right, but when it comes to their rights we feel too disgusted to welcome them into our salons or swimming pools; that's extremely racist.
"Are they just servants to us then? We're servants in our jobs too. Shame on you."
Good on you, Maguy, let's hope your campaign makes a positive difference to Lebanon.
