Kuwaiti artist Daoud Hussein has begun shooting his comedy program Sharoniyyat, which satirizes the brutal behavior of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, according to the Arabic daily Al Sharq Al Awsat.

The episodes were written by Egyptian writer Yousef Maati and directed by Kuwaiti director Ahmed Al Dogji, who previously collaborated with Hussein on Ghinaeyyat and Daoudiyyat.

The program will be produced for Abu Dhabi TV channel, but will be aired simultaneously by a Kuwait satellite channel based on an agreement between the two stations. The agreement stipulates that the two channels will simultaneously air various programs and drama performances during the upcoming Ramadan.

Sharoniyyat is a continuation of a series of Hussein’s comedy programs in Ramadan in which he has starred via various satellite channels. These include Fadhaeyyat, Daoud in Hollywood, Ghinaeyyat and finally Daoudiyyat, aired last Ramadan.

Earlier, Hussein announced that he was willing to stop Ramadan’s satire programs to avoid repetition and because he felt that his audience was bored with such performances.

Hussein withdrew his decision just before he began shooting Sharoniyyat, prompted, as the paper says, by Sharon’s character and his wish to make fun of him in a manner that exposed the premier’s sadistic personality and brutality – Albawaba.com
