Egyptian belly dancer Dina is is living the best days of her life with her new husband, whom she describes as a good and open man that supports her every step in regards to her career. Dina said, “My husband is proud of what I do and he knows how to differentiate between work and our private life. In addition, he is not a hard headed man or old fashioned but instead he is very open-minded.”
With regards to the rise of the Islamists to political power in Egypt, Dina said she would make her belly dancing costumes more conservative to avoid creating trouble for herself, though she is no stranger to scandal and ill-repute. She noted that if she was asked to make the costumes even more decent then they currently are she will gladly do so, because the art of dancing does not rely solely on the outfit but on the abilty to make of the right moves.
She went on to say that the time has not yet come for her to wear the Islamic headdress or hijab, even though she strongly believes its part of her Islamic faith. Now is not the time for her to make that life decision.
