In the Ramadan talk-show that seems to be more dramatic than the soap line-up for the holy month, a Tunisian actress spills the beans on her broken engagement story.
A year after her engagement, rising Tunisian singer- actress Durra Zarrouk (variously known as Dorra, Durrah, Durra-Durra) revealed to host Tony Khalifa on the show “Zaman Al Akhwan” (In the Time of the Brothers) that she has separated from her fiancé Tunisian businessman Qays Mukhtar.
Durra felt fit to tell us a little bit more about the break-up, and why she chose to end the lengthy engagement: “I am not a materialistic person and do not care about money even though my now ex-fiancé was a wealthy businessman and comes from a very rich family. The reason behind our separation was my career. It is impossible to be married to someone and be forced to live in different places" The actress resides in Egypt while her once-fiance Qays is in Tunisia. "At this point in my life I chose my career over getting married, but I imagine this will change one day".
While she remained dry-eyed while discussing her broken heart and dead love affair, Durra caved and shed tears when she saw photos of the former ousted President of Tunisia Zain Al Abdeen. She spoke of his betrayal of the people's and the corruption (not prospeity) he had left them as his legacy.
Durra candidly admitted that is against the Islamist parties that have gained political power in Egypt and Tunisia. Still, she pledged her support of the new people-elected powers, hoping that they could better the living conditions of the Arabs.
