Egypt’s Interpol has arrested Lebanese singer Suzan Tamim after a warrant for her arrest was filed by the Lebanon’s Interpol. The singer is accused of allegedly stealing 350 thousand US dollars from her husband Adel Matouq and running away to Egypt.

According to the London based daily, Al Sharq Al Awsat, after Suzan was taken to the police station she was acquitted through a request by the Lebanese Embassy in Cairo accepting full responsibility of her release. The singer’s name was ordered to be removed from the list of names of people who are not to leave the country and a request to bring her file from Lebanon was underway.

Suzan refused to give out any comments regarding her arrest and the incident, but had previously revealed that she was never married to Adel and he was only her business manager.

Recently, the European Arab Production Company in Beirut, owned by Adel, demanded that a Cairo court take actions against the administration of the Egyptian television channel for hosting Suzan without signing a contract with them. The company presented a tape and requested that the court take a look at it, which shows Suzan singing, saying that the channel had no right to host her before agreeing with them first since they own all rights to any performance held by the singer.

The company stressed that they have rights over all of Suzan’s entertainment activities for 15 years, meaning her contract with them ends in 2016. Adel added that any activity Suzan holds without their knowledge faces legal prosecution and the sponsors will surely be taken to court.

On a similar note, the singer had recently announced that she and her father, who was arrested by Egyptian police for smuggling heroin into Egypt, are innocent of such accusations. The singer has called on everyone to not believe such lies and that nor she or her father would do such a thing.

The singer revealed that the whole incident is a set up especially due to the fact that some anonymous person had tipped the police notifying that her father was attempting to smuggle drugs into the country. Egyptian airport police seized a large quantity of drugs in attempt to be smuggled into Egypt. Security forces had caught Suzan’s father, Abdul sattar Khalil Tamim, who was traveling to Cairo coming from Poland through Beirut, with three bags of heroin hidden in a watch box. – Albawaba.com
