The American attack on Afghanistan has led to the cancellation of a string of agreements by Egyptian singers, who had planned to hold concerts in the US this year.

“I received reassurances a few days ago from the promoters to hold the concerts as scheduled, despite the tense conditions in the US in the wake of the attacks on Sept. 11. [However] the American attack on Afghanistan has led to the cancellation of all previous arrangements,” singer Hisham Abbas told the Arabic daily Al Sharq Al Awsat.

Ehab Tawfiq told the daily “I have decided to postpone all my performance contracts in the US and Europe until further notice in view of my latest visit to the US, which coincided with the terrorist attacks in Washington and New York. These attacks were the worst thing I witnessed in my life due to the harassment which I faced and my inability to return home for many days.”

Other singers who have made the same decision include Amr Diab, Hamadah Hilal and Hamid Al Shaa’eri – Albawaba.com
