Lebanese singer Haifa Wahbi had repeatedly announced in different interviews that she does not consider herself to be a singer but rather a performer who sings what suits her voice. Haifa’s comments made people wonder why she would say such statements especially after achieving a large popularity in such a short time into her singing career.
The answer was in her latest video clip “Ya Hayat Albi”, which was filmed in Tarablus and Saida in Lebanon, directed by Saleem Turk. Haifa performs the role of a servant, in a Cinderella-like story, who goes to the fish market and buys fish and then vegetables to prepare for a party in the palace she works in.
When she returns, all the servants begin dancing with her, then the light fades away, and she is shown changing her outfit to attend the party at the palace. Haifa did not show much of her body in the clip but used other talents, like seductive moves and starts to sing and dance with the prince who was stunned by her beauty.
Haifa went far in seduction and in the way she repeated certain words and gave seductive impressions to viewers. The clip did not show Haifa's talent in singing yet it showed a great talent in acting.
Among the many big names in Rotana's singers list that took part in the Tunisian summer annual festival Carthage, Haifa was chosen to participate with what they insist to call singing concerts. Haifa’s concert was divided into two parts; the first part started with Lebanese singer Yuri Mra'adi who was wearing black boots and showed up with a new western look. Yuri started shouting and running on the stage expecting the audience to react with him but he was faced with complete serenity.
The second part of the concert was for Rotana's singer Haifa who danced throughout the performance moving every possible part of her body including parts that have no muscles in them. Haifa shifted from singing to dancing to throwing the roses to the fans then laughing to her fans.
The night of Haifa’s performance was a failure and the proof was the audience who did not exceed 200. From the performance of the two singers, whose style does not match the taste of the audience, proved great failure and dissatisfaction. –Albawaba.com
