Hollywood and world celebrities bid farewell to the "incomparable" Omar Sharif

While the news of the passing of Omar Sharif took the social media by the storm, many well known actors, directors, as well as Hollywood film companies paid tribute to the internationally renowned Egyptian actor.

Many artists shared the news expressing their sadness, and some rekindled the moments they shared with Sharif.

Barbra Streisand, who starred opposite Sharif in the musical Funny Girl (1968), called Sharif "handsome, sophisticated and charming. He was a proud Egyptian."

Antonio Banderas, who acted with Sharif in The 13th Warrior (1999), described the Egyptian actor as "My great friend.. I will always miss him."

Official facebook page dedicated to Ava Gardner, posted photos of Gardner and Sharif appearing together in Mayering (1968) and her last TV movie Harem (1986).

The official facebook page of Golden Globes recounted the awards garnered by the Egyptian actor.

On his Twitter account, German director Roland Emmerich wrote he was blessed to work with Sharif  who was the narrator of Emmerich's film 10,000 BC (2008).
