Lebanon waves a sad goodbye to acclaimed actress Souad Kareem

Lebanon’s highly-acclaimed actress Souad Kareem passed away on Wednesday, reported Sayidaty.net.

Born Aneeseh Kanaan, she was famously known for her stage name “Souad Kareem.”

Kareem was one of the first women to work in the entertainment industry in Lebanon. She was renowned for her spontaneous acting style and sweet voice.

According to Assafir news, Kareem once said, "I didn't marry; acting remains my first love."

The late actress set up the Lebanese Opera Acting Group in 1939, and enjoyed a long successful career in theatre, radio and television.

Some of her most notable films include “Ring seller” (1965) and “There’s a Man in my Way” (1967). Her TV works include “Women in a Storm” (1997) and “Juha” (1969).

Kareem’s burial will take place at 3pm on Thursday, while the funeral will continute at Saint Georges Church in Ain El Remmeneh, Lebanon.
