ALBAWABA - Liam Payne's friend and two others have been accused weeks after his tragic fall from a Buenos Aires hotel balcony. Officials in Argentina have ruled out suicide.
The former member of One Direction was "not fully conscious" during the fall, according to official toxicological reports that confirmed the presence of various narcotics in his system.
The 14th Criminal Prosecutor's Office informed Liam Payne's family of the results of the toxicological test in a press statement on Thursday, November 7.
According to the translated declaration from Spanish, Payne's system contained "alcohol, cocaine, and prescription antidepressants" in the 72 hours prior to his death.
The press release states that "complete toxicology tests on urine, blood, and vitreous fluid led to this conclusion."
According to the National Poison Center in D.C., sources told ABC News on October 21 that a partial autopsy found "multiple substances in Payne's system" at the time of his death, including "pink cocaine," a recreational drug that contains a combination of methamphetamine, ketamine, and MDMA but isn't necessarily cocaine.
Reports state that Payne used an "aluminum pipe" in his hotel room while taking drugs.
According to the Argentine daily Clarin, authorities had significantly accelerated the investigation by conducting numerous searches at the homes of two other hotel staff members, one of Payne's unnamed acquaintances, and the scene of his death.
TMZ claims that the "friend" was with Payne in the room before his fall from the balcony, but he fled before he died. Clarin recognized the "friend" as a businessman from Argentina. Clarin faced accusations of abandoning someone before their demise.
TMZ reports that on Thursday, they accused a hotel staff member of delivering the pills to Payne, likely in a soap box, and charged a third party as a supplier. The public has not yet heard from these two suspects.
After examining Payne's phone to identify the person who gave him the pills, investigators focused on three suspects, as evidenced by hotel security footage showing staff members interacting with him.
A funeral date has not been set, but Payne's family received his body on Wednesday to transport it to his UK home.
