Mahmoud Darwish’s wife satisfied with “Fi Hadrat al Ghuyab”

Artist Hayat Al Hayni, wife of the late prominent Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish, stated that she is satisfied with the television drama “Fi Hadrat Al Ghuyab” (In the presence of the absent), which is about the life of Mahmoud.

 

Hayat stated that she was very impressed with the drama and watches the drama and its reruns three times or sometimes more a day. She added that she considered the negative criticism the drama was attacked with when it first began airing was not just and critics had rushed with giving their opinion about the drama.

 

Hayat went on to say that she considers the drama to be the best being aired during the holy month of Ramdan, and she as Mahmoud’s wife, who knows every detail of his life, considers the drama to be a great production that touches on the most important issues in the late poet’s life. She added that the drama was able to portray Mahmoud’s life in a very positive manner.

 

Mahmoud’s eldest brother Ahmad stated that the drama was a love letter for his late brother and he greatly thanks everyone who worked on making the drama because they portrayed Mahmoud in a positive manner honoring him. Ahmad said that he is against any negative criticism regarding the drama, especially criticism that was made at the beginning of the drama.

 

Ahmad noted that he had personally looked over the entire script of the drama before it was aired and added that the intentions of producer of the drama and the leading actor Syrian Firas Ibrahim was very pure and they presented the drama to the best of their capabilities.

 

Firas revealed that the drama is witnessing a large number of viewers around the Arab world and people have expressed their satisfaction with the drama.

 

The drama stars Firas, Syrian actress Sulaf Fawakhirji, who plays the role of Mahmoud’s Mistress Rita, actor Ahmad Zaher and actress Mirna Al Muhandis. Direction is by prominent director Najdat Anzour and the drama is aired on 10 different Arab satellite channels.
