The television show “Waqif Ya Zaman” (Stop the Time), aired on the Lebanese ‘Future Channel,’ is being filmed with a number of celebrities.  Iraqi singer Majid Al-Muhandis will appear as this week’s guest.

Al-Muhandis left Iraq thirteen years ago for Jordan where he worked in a clothing factory.  Poverty forced him to sleep in the factory at one point, said Al-Muhandis.

He later studied engineering, where he earned his name “Al Muhandis” (Engineer). He then left his position as an airline engineer to pursue his singing career.

Host Wisam Bridi brought out Al-Muhandis’ emotional side when he asked about how the singer felt when he was prohibited from returning to Iraq before the death of his father.

The host also asked Al-Muhandis about his relations with other singers, and he seemed irritated when compared with Iraqi singer Kathem Al Saher.

According to the London daily Elaph, Al-Muhandis also talked about his personal life and said that he considers himself a good cook, but at the same time stated that all his previous romantic relationships were “failures.”
