ALBAWABA -In a recent interview, Mark Zuckerberg revealed how he promptly ended his daughter's desire of becoming like Taylor Swift.
The profound irony of "social" media magnate Mark Zuckerberg being someone who plainly dislikes socializing is well-trodden, yet it was all I could think about when watching a recent podcast appearance featuring the tech CEO.
The software mogul spoke on the "Acquired" podcast earlier this month and disclosed a chat where he seemed to crush his middle child's ambition to become exactly like the worldwide celebrity Taylor Swift.
"We took her to a Taylor Swift concert, and she was like, 'You know, Dad, I kind of want to be like Taylor Swift when I grow up,'" said Zuckerberg. "But you can't," I responded.
The father of three did not explain to podcast hosts Ben Gilbert and David Rosenthal why professional singing at that level isn't "available" to his daughter, August, but he did note that during their conversation, she changed her mind and indicated she wanted to be more like herself.
"She thought about it, and she's like, 'Alright, when I grow up, I want people to want to be like August Chan Zuckerberg,'" said the husband and father of three.
Coincidentally, his middle kid shares the name of Swift's Grammy-nominated hit "August" from her album "Folklore."
Despite the fact that he does not want his daughter to become a millionaire troubled poet, the Meta CEO is a fan and even supports Swift.
In July 2023, he went to The Eras Tour in Santa Clara with his wife Priscilla and his children, and he even shared a selfie with friendship bracelets and jewels on his face, captioned "Life of a girl dad."
He apparently paid a lot of money for his family's box suite at the historic performance. The suite in Santa Clara's Levi's Stadium allegedly costs up to $50,000 and can accommodate 22 people.
His comments about the "Lover" singer on the program sparked a variety of reactions on social media.
"Sure, Taylor Swift is a once in twenty lifetimes musical genius, but one does not simply quash dreams like that," according to a Reddit member.
"He ushered his daughter into her reputation era." "I hope she makes as much music as she wants," another said.
"I'm sure the kid with plenty of it will recover right fine," someone said on the social networking site.
