Contrary to recent media reports, international superstar Rihanna will not perform at Meydan in Dubai, according to a statement released by the racetrack on Wednesday.
Online reports on Tuesday following a press conference at Cityscape in Dubai quoted Meydan commercial director Mohammad Nasser Al Khayat as saying an official announcement on the Umbrella singer’s performance in the emirate was imminent.
Meydan on Wednesday denied the concert will take place. “Meydan would like to clarify that the group is not currently in talks to bring Rihanna to perform at Meydan,” it said in the statement. “Meydan, together with our partners, is committed to delivering a series of high-profile music and entertainment events, including Atelier Festival on 19 October 2012, and to bring world-class acts to audiences in Dubai in the future, across all our upcoming developments.”
Gulf News contacted Meydan who re-confirmed Rihanna would categorically not be coming to Meydan. A spokesperson said: “We will be hosting some exciting international acts in the near future and announcements will be made in the coming weeks.”
