ALBAWBA - Christmas is just around the corner, and "tis the season to be jolly," to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year. Albawaba entertainment has created a list of the top selling, most famous Christmas songs.

1. The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late) (1959) - The Chipmunks 

This classic song is a novelty Christmas song that was written by Ross Bagdasarian and released in1958, The song peaked at Number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in the year of it's release.

The song was performed by The Chipmunks, who were an animated virtual band and media franchise created by Ross Bagdasarian.

The single sold 4.5 million copies in seven weeks, and it eventually sold 12 million copies.

2.   Last Christmas (1984) - Wham!

''Last Christmas'' was released by Wham! who were an English pop duo consisting of George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley.

The song was written and produced by the late singer George Michael in 1984 and it was the duo's third and final album. 

In the United States, the song originally was at Number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and took 38 years to reach its peak when it went up to Number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

3.  It's The Most Wonderful Time of The Year  (1963 ) - Andy Williams 

Released in Oct. 14, 1963, Edward Pola and George Wyle worked together to write one of the most famous Christmas songs, and it was recorded by pop singer Andy Williams.  

It was the number one selling Christmas song, and it topped the special Billboard Christmas singles chart. 

Because the song was a big hit, Andy Williams earned the nickname ''Mr. Christmas''.

4.  All I Want For Christmas Is You (1994) - Mariah Carey 

Mariah Carey's most famous Christmas song streamed 10.8 million times in the past seven days, and the song which was first released in 1994 and got to number one for the first time in 2020. 

And according to Virginaradio.co.uk, Mariah Carey earns $2.5 million per year from All I Want For Christmas Is You.

The website added that by 2016, Carey has earned around $60 million in total.

5.  Blue Christmas (1964 ) - Elvis Presley

Blue Christmas is not just Elvis Presley's favorite song, it is also a song that has to be played every year during the jolly season, it was added to Presley's Christmas album, which is still to this day, the best-selling Christmas Album of all time.

Per elvisthemusic.com the many re-releases over the years have resulted in U.S. sales of more than 22 million copies to date.

6.  Mistletoe (2011) - Justin Bieber

Pop icon, Justin Bieber released his hit Christmas song Mistletoe on Oct. 17, 2011, when he was just 17 years old. 

Mistletoe debuted at Number one on the album chart, and the album was certified double platinum for sales of over 2 million copies.

7.  It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas (2012) -  Michael Bublé

Even though it was released in 2011, Michael Bublé somehow makes us feel like it's 1940 in the beautiful Christmas season, where it's snowing all around, and all that by just listening to his hit song ''It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas''

And Michael's Christmas album sold over 12 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums of the 21st century and one of the best-selling Christmas albums worldwide.

8. Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree (1958) - Brenda Lee

You probably have heard this song in most of the classical Christmas movies in history, the singer, Brenda Lee was only 13 years old when she recorded the song. 

It was first released in 1958, and almost 60 years later, everyone knows the lyrics to this massive Christmas track. 

9.  Santa Tell Me (2014 ) - Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande blessed her fans with the 2014 single ''Santa Tell Me'', this catchy single is a popular modern holiday track, Grande sings to Santa asking him her to prevent her from falling in love again if the relationship won't last until the following holiday season. 

Due to the song's lasting impact, Grande has been named "Princess of Christmas".

10.  White Christmas (1942 ) -  Bing Crosby

Bing Crosby's White Christmas was released in 1942 and according to guinnessworldrecords, the Christmas single has sold over 100 million records around the world, with at least 50 million sales as singles.
