Prominent Egyptian actress Nabila Obeid has suddenly pulled out of the joint Egyptian-Kuwaiti drama, “Lilbai’ lidawa’e El Safar” (For Sale Due to Travel). The drama, which was scheduled to be aired during the month of Ramadan, is written by Mohammad Yousef and directed by Khaled Al Mufaidi.
Nabila revealed that she withdrew once she realized that the drama would not be ready in time to be screened during Ramadan, since all films to be shown during the holy month must be submitted by the end of August.
In a very daring move, Nabila announced that she has lowered her wage for her upcoming television drama series “Hikayet Hub” (A Love Story).
Nabila made this selfless decision in order to allow the production company a larger budget, hoping to increase the quality of the series.
The actress stated that her financial sacrifice “means more money will be spent on technical issues, resulting in better quality.”
It has been suggested that many recent dramas are of poor quality due the extremely high wages demanded by actors.
Nabila has refused to reveal any details about the drama, written by Majdi Saber and directed by Majdi Abu Ameireh.
