She is arguably one of the most successful Middle Eastern models of all time and now she is the face of the region's newest fashion bible - that is important for so much more than just style reasons.

Gigi Hadid has been revealed as the cover star of the first ever print edition of Vogue Arabia.

A first look at the debut issue of the landmark new magazine featuring the 21-year-old was released Wednesday.

Gigi - whose father is Palestinian - posed for two separate black and white images wearing a beaded veil.

The veil was draped across part of the model's face in the Arabic language edition and significantly more of her face in the English language edition.

Despite the women of the Middle East being some of the most fashion conscious in the world, this is the first time that they have had a Vogue which represents their region.

The debut print issue - which is on stands March 5 - is entitled Reorienting Perceptions.

The cover is Gigi's 21st Vogue cover, but she took to Instagram to say that this one was a very special to her.

Gigi wrote: 'I think the beautiful thing about there being international Vogue's is that, as a fashion community, we are able to celebrate, and share with the world, different culture.

'Being half-Palestinian, it means the world to me to be on the first-ever cover(s) of @voguearabia, and I hope that this magazine will show another layer of the fashion industry's desire to continue to accept, celebrate, and incorporate all people & customs and make everyone feel like they have fashion images and moments they can relate to... & learn and grow in doing so.'

Vogue Arabia's Editor-in-Chief, Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz, said the model was the perfect face to launch the magazine.

'In one poised photograph, she communicates a thousand words to a region that's been waiting far too long for its Vogue voice to speak.

'The collage of countries across the Arab world are long-deserving of a place in fashion history and there's no better first ''face'' to lead the charge for Vogue Arabia than Gigi, a model who defines tomorrow's entrepreneurial and dynamic generation.'

Gigi's mom Yolanda also re-posted to cover and dedicated it to Gigi's grandmother who did all she could to show her children and their children their culture.

Yolanda said on Instagram: 'This one is for you KHAIR HADID, I know you are watching down on us from heaven........ #RIP #MyPreciousMotherInLaw I was blessed to be educated, eat her home cooked Arabic food, and experience the beauty of her Muslim traditions, I know she would have been so proud to see her granddaughter on the first cover of @voguearabia @gigihadid #DutchArabAmerican #ProudMommy.'

Gigi's cover was shot by Dutch fashion photographers Inez and Vinoodh and was styled by Brandon Maxwell, Lady Gaga's stylist, who dressed Syrian refugee Hala Kamil, the subject of documentary Watani: My Homeland, for the Oscars.

The debut print issue of Vogue Arabia will be available across the Middle East and North African region, as well as international locations including London, Paris, and Milan.

The magazine - which launched a digital edition first late last year - is the 22nd international version of Vogue and promises women of the region and also Muslim women high fashion styled with modest flair.

The magazine will offer both an English and Arabic language editions.
