Prominent Egyptian actress Raghda was recently in Beirut where she took part in a demonstration to support the Palestinian and Iraqi people. The actress felt that participating in such demonstrations will make her voice be heard and shows her support to all those people suffering at the hands of the enemy. Raghda stressed that all artists should be involved in what is happening in the region, even if by taking part in protests.
Raghda will be traveling to Morocco in the middle of September to attend the screening of her movie [Nabeb Al-Alam Watani]. Raghda will be performing three roles the first is for an American orientalist who tries to get to the bottom of the Palestinian-Israeli crises. The second character is for a Palestinian militia girl and third is and Iraqi girl. The movie is directed by Abdullah Al-Misbahi.
After her return from Morocco, Raghda will be filming a new movie with Mahomoud Hamida entitled [Dam Ala Alnahar]. The movie talks about a manslayer that kills hundreds of innocent people, then a reporter tries to write a story about him to find out that he is part of the system in the country.
Raghda has expressed extreme anger and outrage towards recent rumors that say the only reason she stood by the side of Egyptian actor Ahmad Zaki through his ordeal was a greedy selfish one. The actress stressed that her only intention behind supporting Ahmad throughout his illness has nothing to do with her wanting leading roles in his upcoming film, nor is their any materialistic motive for it.
Raghda who has been by Ahmad's side since he fell ill and accompanied him to Paris for his treatment of lung cancer, revealed that the only reason she is doing all this is the fact that she considers Ahmad to be one of her closest friend and it’s the least she can do for him. The actress added that the intention of wanting a leading role in his upcoming film is not even considered and she feels that these kinds of rumors are simply idiotic and out of place.
On a different note, Ragda took part in the Egyptian drama “al-karar al-Akheer” (the final decision), which is based on a story for the international author Nagib Mahfouz, and directed by Hani Ismael. Ragda plays the role of a wealthy widow who moves to live in an isolated villa after her beloved husband passes away. A man enters her life and she falls in love with him to find out later that he married her just to revenge from her brother. Ragda added that when she likes a work she refuses any other job offer until she finishes the first one, because she enjoys what she does and cannot work on two works at the same time.
Ragda said that she is against the new trend of youth comedy movies, and against their dominating of the market. She asserted on having other kinds of movies to satisfy all tastes and viewers. –Albawaba.com
