If Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred is charged with sexual assault in France, he could be put behind bars for at least 15 years.
The 31-year-old was reportedly arrested in the French capital on Wednesday after a women accused him of attempted rape.
Saad will be brought before the competent prosecutor on Friday morning.
“We are following with great interest this issue and contacts have been made between the authorities of both countries to clarify this matter, “Minister of Culture, Mohamed Amine Sbihi was quoted by Le360 as saying.
This isn't the first time the "LM3ALLEM" singer was accused of sexual assault. Saad is facing rape charges by a New York woman, who told the New York Post in may that she was allegedly sexually assaulted and beaten in a Brooklyn apartment by Lamjarred, in 2010.
The alleged victim's lawyer, Rifat Harb, claims that after Saad was “arrested and indicted, and after posting bail, he immediately fled the country and has not returned since."
Saad became a household name in Morocco and the Middle East after his musical hit "LM3ALLEM" (The Boss) earned him record views on YouTube and a Guinness World Record achievement.
