The well-known journalist and television show host Amro Adeeb always made sure to have exclusive guests for his show “Al Qahira Al Youm” (Cairo Today) on “Al Youm” (Today) satellite channel. All of his shows have been successful but the one surprisingly show which shocked all his fans is when he had the beloved Egyptian actress Sharihan over the phone live on air for more than an hour and a half.
She was his guest for the first episode on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan. Sharihan’ presence over the phone shocked show business celebrities before the fans of the show. This is the first time that any television show host was successful to persuade the well-know actress who’s been away from the spot light for a long time to have an interview with her.
According to the London daily Elaph, Sharihan has been away from the spotlight due to her illness. Five years ago she discovered that she has a rare form of cancer, where she underwent heavy treatment for. Her fans have been waiting a long time to hear from her. Sharihan used to entertain them throughout the holy months of Ramadan with her “Fawazer Ramadan” (Ramadan Guessing Shows).
Sharihan talked about her journey of pain from her rare cancer sickness that is not curable. She added that she went through so many surgeries and the Chemotherapy that she has to undergo every three months. She has to stay in a metal room for 3 days while undergoing the therapy. She also takes insulin shots to spot the area where the cancer is so it could be burned from the Chemotherapy. She refused to take any shots to hide the scars of the surgeries, because she is proud of what she is going through.
Sharihan talked about her relationship with Isa’ad Younis who got married to Sharihan’s husband, Jordanian businessman Ala Khawaja, and became his second wife. Sharihan thinks of Younis as a sister who’s been there for her throughout her sickness journey. Sharihan also talks of her relationship with her husband. She said, “if I’m able to pray for someone after God I would pray for my husband, where I can’t thank him enough for all what he’s done for me this huge and affectionate man.”
Sharihan also thanked all of those who prayed for her and wished her well and prayed for a soon recovery, yet she was sadden to mention those who asked about her in the beginning of her sickness and seemed to have forgotten about her as the years passed by. Sharihan also thanks her daughter who describes her as her loyal nurse who’s been by her side ever since she got sick.
All the celebrities were shocked to discover that Sharihan was on the phone live, where they all rushed in and made a phone call to talk to her. The first phone came from the Egyptian actress Muna Zaki where she thanked her for being at her wedding.
The second caller was the Tunisian singer Latifa and she thanked Sharihan for being the first person to stand by her side in Egypt. Many singers, actors and actresses rushed to take advantage of the opportunity to talk to their beloved colleague. Famous names like Hisham Salim, Nelly, Muhammad Hunaidi, Yusra, Souad Younis and many more all want to make sure that she was doing well and hoped to see her face to face.
The musician and actor Ezat Abu Oof who was also a guest at the same show kept asking Sharihan if she was doing well or if she’s tired. Even thought nobody saw Sharihan she did not to stay in her room to make the phone interview, she went as far as getting dressed for it and put on some make-up.
Sharihan considered her sickness to be a test from God and she thanked Him for it and she hoped that one day everyone will get to see her in person.
