Egyptian actress Shireen Seif Nasr has established a new production company under the name of ‘Shairi Film,’ returning to a popular trend in the 1960’s, when actresses often established their own production companies.

Shireen’s mother and business manager, Laila, revealed that her daughter took this step in order to produce new films and television dramas to mark her return to acting after a four year absence, according to the London based Elaph. Laila stressed that the company is not solely for Shireen, but for all actors.

Shireen recently filed a lawsuit against Egyptian belly-dancer Fifi Abdo, after the latter publicly insulted her on the Lebanese Broadcasting Company LBC program “Li Man Yajro’ Fakat” (For those who dare only). Fifi stated that Shireen was a “gold digger” and wanted to return to her ex-husband Egyptian singer/actor Midhat Saleh only to take his money.

Shireen said that she was shocked by Fifi’s accusations, and vowed that she will seek legal compensation, especially since it is not the first time the dancer publicly insulted her. Also, she questioned why Fifi insists on making false, hurtful remarks.

The idea of returning to her ex-husband does not cross her mind, Shireen noted, stating that the only thing that matters to her is her acting career.
