It doesn't get more A-list than George Clooney and Cindy Crawford and after one particularly drunken night the pair ended up in bed together.

The supermodel's husband Rande Gerber is old friends and business partners with the ER hunk and recently shared a story about what happened after a tequila fuelled evening.

With George in the guest room and Cindy half asleep, the brunette beauty ended up mistaking the passed out actor for her husband.

Speaking in an interview with The Evening Standard, Rande explained that he and George were celebrating a work triumph - both own the tequila brand Casamigos - and let off some steam in their favourite way: by polishing off a bottle.

Close friends as they are, George often finds himself staying over at the Gerber-Crawford residence if they've been drinking.

This time rather than taking up his usual spot in the guest house, he only got as far as a spare room in the main house.

Waking up in the middle of the night Cindy found her man in another room.

Randy explained, 'She saw me passed out on the bed with my motorcycle boots still on and my head squashed against my phone and got into bed and started rubbing my back and then I turned around, only it wasn't me it was George.

'Cindy shrieks: "Oh my God!" Then George shrieks: "Oh my God, did I get into bed with you?'

She then left to find her other half, and left George heading for the kitchen.

The couple have been friends with George for years and Rande explained that Cindy and his new wife Amal have become firm friends.

'They are very compatible: both strong, intelligent, committed women.'

With all the attention that the new couple have received Rande was adamant that Amal can handle the pressure.

George is used to the spotlight and Amal knew what she was getting into and the couples have some tricks for keeping a low profile.
