Iran detains 4 over killing of pro-regime religious singer Hamidreza Rajabzadeh

ALBAWABA - The Iranian security forces arrested four people with links to the abductions and the killing of Iranian religious singer Hamidreza Rajabzadeh, Iran's Mizan news website reported.

According to Tasnim news agency, Rajabzadeh, who is known for being a pro-regime religious singer, went missing for several days before he was found dead in a suspected crime.

His family received a video showing his body following the killing. Following an investigation by the police, Iranian authorities arrested four people with links to the crime.

After identifying the owner of the car in which Rajabzadeh was kidnapped, four suspects in the murder of the singer are in the custody of the Iranian police.

The owner of the car in which Rajabzadeh was last seen was arrested and confessed that he worked with a network of opponents abroad and had kidnapped Hamidreza Rajabzadeh with the help of four others. 

They then proceeded to torture and murder him and sent footage to his family.  

According to Iranian media, the suspects have received thousands of dollars for the killing of the religious singer.

Many called on the authorities in Iran to hand down the death penalty for those linked to the crime of murdering the religious singer. The hashtag "#محاکمه_و_اعدام_قاتلین_رجب_زاده" [Trial and execute killers of Rajabzadeh] has been trending among the Iranian social media platforms.
