Remember Abu Sayyaf? The key Daesh figure the Pentagon killed in a special forces raid on Saturday? Turns out, he may have also been a key figure in the execution of Jordanian pilot Muath al-Kasasbeh in January.

According to a new report by Jordan's Arabic daily al-Ghad, Sayyaf played a pivotal role in questioning and investigating the 26-year-old pilot, who was also reportedly placed under Sayyaf's supervision during his detainment.

Al-Ghad, along with other Jordanian media, also say the Daesh figure appears in the footage of Kasasbeh's killing, one of the masked militants standing around the pilot during the highly-produced video that ends with his grisly death.

This is developing, so check back for updates.
