3M declares Liberty Automobiles – Sharjah Bodyshop Champions after winning 3M Inter-Bodyshop Cricket Invitational Tournament 2008
3M, the company which produces thousands of innovative products for dozens of diverse industries, yesterday witnessed a climactic end to its Inter-Bodyshop Cricket Invitational Tournament 2008, with the CADILLAC / OPEL Team of Liberty Automobiles – Sharjah Bodyshop being declared champions, following a closely fought battle of bowling and batting prowess, against the TOYOTA Team of Al Futtaim Motors – Sharjah Bodyshop.
Special Awards were given for the outstanding players during the Finals and are as follows: Man-of-the-Match, won by Usman Ahmed (Liberty Automobiles); Best Fielder, won by Iqbal Hassan (Al Futtaim Motors); Best Bowler, won by Shahid Butt (Liberty Automobiles); and the Best Batsman, won by Naveen D’souza (Liberty Automobiles).
“3M’s Automotive Aftermarket Division wanted to create an innovative and fun environment where our customers and end-users could meet together in an informal setting; to challenge each other and to show their sporting prowess. This cricket tournament provided an excellent social venue for our end-users, and gave them an ideal opportunity to build stronger relationships with their peers in the local industry. We also wanted to say thank you for their loyalty, and we decided that something which focused on the spirit of team work, competition, and healthy exercise - was the ideal solution,” Robert Castro, Marketing Specialist 3M Transportation, said.
The tournament was aimed at bringing 3M’s valued stakeholders together from across the UAE. In total, more than 16 teams from franchise bodyshop accounts across the country have participated over the past six weeks, made up of bodyshop managers, supervisors, painters, denters and other repair personnel.
