Acting Afghan President Burhanuddin Rabbani wrapped up on Sunday night a brief visit to Dubai for talks with Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE’s official news agency (WAM) reported.
Sheikh Mohammad, who is also the UAE’s defense minister, reviewed with Rabbani the latest political and military developments in Afghanistan and discussed with him the political future of Afghanistan, which is to be addressed at an international conference in Bonn soon.
Rabbani expressed gratitude to President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan for his humanitarian stance on behalf of the people of Afghanistan, said the agency.
Rabbani told WAM that Sheikh Mohammad had stressed the importance of forming a coalition government of Afghanistan’s political parties so that political and economic peace and stability could prevail. Sheikh Mohammad also voiced hope that all countries would contribute to rebuilding Afghanistan
Meanwhile, Sheikh Mohammad called on all Afghan factions to end infighting and establish a representative coalition government in the country – Albawaba.com
